Custer County Advances Water Infrastructure Airport Improvements and Community Facilities

Custer County continues to invest in the practical infrastructure and public facilities that support daily life and long-term opportunity across western Oklahoma. Recent progress includes water system upgrades in smaller communities, airport hangar expansion in Clinton, and improved access to human services.

Water System Improvements in Custer City

The Town of Custer City has secured a $99,999 Rural Economic Action Plan grant from the Oklahoma Water Resources Board, combined with additional REAP funding from the South Western Oklahoma Development Authority, to replace aging water transmission lines. The project will install approximately 5,070 linear feet of new 8-inch PVC main to reduce frequent breaks and ongoing water loss.

Officials note that the original main line has struggled under modern operating pressures. Completing the replacement will improve reliability for residents and reduce long-term maintenance costs for the town.

Clinton Regional Airport Hangar Expansion

Clinton Regional Airport is moving forward with construction of a new 10-unit T-hangar and a 60-by-60-foot box hangar. The project is supported by approximately $1.9 million in combined federal, state, and local funding through the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics.

The additional aircraft storage capacity is intended to support general aviation activity and make the airport more attractive for business and personal aircraft owners in the region. Construction is expected to begin in the near term.

Human Services Center Opens in Clinton

Oklahoma Human Services has opened a new 5,619-square-foot Human Services Center in Clinton. The facility is designed to improve access to food benefits, child support services, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, and other programs under a “Service First” approach that aims to resolve more needs in a single visit.
